Network Administrator I

Hendrickson is searching for a Network Administrator to join their IT group in Woodridge, IL.
This individual will support, monitor and maintain company’s computer network resources and phone systems. They will also analyze and resolve end-user hardware, software, network and phone problems; provide end-user training where required; lead and direct temporary staff for performing low-level tasks such as installing new computers.
Key Responsibilities
• Install, configure, and maintain personal computers, networks, workstations, file servers, Ethernet networks, network cabling, and other related equipment, devices, and systems; adds or upgrades and configures all peripheral devices, CD ROM units, printers, and related equipment.
• Perform account administration in Active Directory, including adding, modifying and deletion of users.
• Investigate user problems, identify their source, determine possible solutions, test and implement solutions.
• Perform and/or oversee software installation, and upgrades.
• Input in planning and implementing network security, managing host security, file permissions, backup and disaster recovery plans and file system integrity, and adding and deleting users.
• Troubleshoot networks, systems, and applications to identify and correct malfunctions and other operational difficulties.
• Develop and conduct various training and instruction for system users on operating systems, relational databases, and other applications; assist users in maximizing use of networks and computing systems.
• Identify utilization patterns and their effect on operation/system availability and performance expectations.
• Anticipate communication and networking problems and implement preventive measures.
• Establish and perform maintenance programs following company and industry standards, including the creation and distribution of patches to all systems and applications.
• Ensure timely user notification of maintenance requirements and effects on system availability.
• Investigate, recommend and install enhancements and operating procedures that optimize network availability.
• Maintain confidentiality with regard to the information being processed, stored or accessed by the network.
• Ensure that workstation configuration complies with established policies, standards, licensing agreements, and configuration guidelines
• Evaluate and/or recommend purchases of computers, network hardware, peripheral equipment, and software.
• Document network problems and resolutions for future reference.
• Primary designated support for all company systems to include, but is not limited to, email systems, application and system monitoring, middleware, file and print servers and application servers.
• Provide primary phone system support including both TDM and VOIP Systems.
• Maintain database containing workstation inventory information.
• Coordinates vendor services such as PC hardware repair, printer repair and product warranty.
• Maintain I.T.-support knowledge base.
• Provide back-up support for all company systems when the primary support person is unavailable.
• Assist personnel of other departments as a computer resource.
• Provide on-the-job training to new department staff members.
• Provide computer orientation to new company staff.
Education Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in business or computer–related field required.
Key Skills/Abilities
• Minimum of Five years experience with desktop support, network administration, or similar experience.
• Working experience with Microsoft Windows 2003, Active directory, and other Microsoft applications. MCSE required. CCNA or equivalent preferred.
• Experience with Checkpoint firewall, TDM and VOIP phone system support, voicemail and PBX required.
• Ability to interface with customers and provide group and / or one-on-one support and training
• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
• Must exhibit the highest professionalism, self-initiative, enthusiasm, and work ethic.
• Knowledge of federal copyright laws as they pertain to the use of computer software.
• Ability to travel to division and plant sites as required.
• Responsibilities may require evening and weekend work in response to needs of the systems being supported.
