Position Purpose:
Design, develop and test custom automated system components as directed by Aii Systems Leadership. Demonstrate self-direction and excellent organization skills to drive tasks through to completion. Clearly communicate results to all levels and display ingenuity in how to apply technologies to clients.
Essential Functions:
- Design Engineering
- Specifies materials and components for use in designs of components, systems, assemblies.
- Identifies/Recommends manufacturing processes and equipment for projects.
- Project Management
- Interaction with customer to develop a conceptual design for a piece of machinery or automated system that will satisfy the customer requirement.
- Establishes clear targets, timing goals, and performance expectations for each project to ensure clear program definition.
- Supervises concept development of each project
programs - Complete Project Management. Coordinates the technical design of the project through runoff at the customers facility.
- Continuous communications with team at Aii Systems and directly with the customer to ensure build schedules are maintained.
- Development and Testing
- Development of concepts into a working solid model.
- Development and management of fabrication prints up to release of prints to production.
- Assistance with the assembly and start-up of machinery.
- Develops detailed test plans based on industry standards or custom applications in order to validate system concepts, materials, and processes.
- Strategic Support
- Develop and provide presentation materials for technical presentations to internal and external customers.
- Support presentations from time-to-time.
- Personal Development
- Provides continuous improvement through employee development, process improvement and elimination of waste. Helps to assure safety in the office and laboratory.
Education and Training
- A Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related field is required.
- 7 + years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably with automated equipment design.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications and 3-D solid modeling software.
- Dependable and capable of functioning as a member of a team.
Minimum Qualifications
- Up to 25% travel required.
- Demonstrated ability to manage major development projects and meet deadlines.
