Performs the strategic purchasing function for assigned commodities to ensure realization of company business objectives. Works cross-functionally with Engineering, Manufacturing, Materials Management, and Finance to manage supplier related opportunities and threats. Takes primary role in developing optimal supply chain solutions for assigned purchased components and raw material.
• Lead material cost reduction activities for assigned commodities
• Identify and leverage opportunities by developing and managing contractual relationships as needed.
• Develop, foster and enhance multi-departmental relationship(s) between Hendrickson Truck and key suppliers
• Assess current supply base on an on-going basis and recommend changes/alternatives that reduce purchased material cost and/or add higher value to purchased components
• Continually monitor the marketplace for assigned commodities to analyze pricing trends, technology advancements, risk mitigation strategies, and cost-efficient alternatives to the status quo
• Lead cross-functional analysis to prepare recommendation(s) for make vs. buy decisions on current products
• Foster collaboration with all other Hendrickson divisions to leverage total spend and standardization opportunities that will reduce overall costs to Hendrickson
• Coordinate all aspects of Hendrickson “Warranty Recovery” Program regarding established warranty parameters for assigned commodities
• Resolve all invoice discrepancies for assigned supply base in a timely manner
• Monitor and account for all fluctuations in purchase price variance (PPV) for assigned commodities
• Ensure an uninterrupted supply of materials to production facilities
• Other duties as assigned
• Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field
• Supply Chain concentration preferred
• Professional designations or Certifications by recognized Purchasing organizations preferred
• 5 years of related supply chain work experience
• High energy level and strong self-motivation
• Demonstrated negotiation success
• High standards of integrity required
• Competence with Microsoft Office software required
• Familiar with and working experience in a TS-16949 or other Quality regulated manufacturing environment
• Planning and organizational skills with an ability to handle a multitude of projects
